100 Answers to 50 Questions on the Music Business

100 Answers to 50 Questions on the Music Business is truly the first book for every music business professional, established or aspiring.

The guide book is structured to take you from garage to Grammy.  Each section addresses the issues and challenges faced in the five basic phases of every recording career.  (Including: I Just Joined a Band, I Just Made My First Lousy Deal, I’m About to Sign My First Real Deal, I Want Out of This Deal, and Will Things Ever Change) Thus the simple answer given to a question in part one might be different than the complex answer to the same question in part four or five.

100 Answers to 50 Questions on the Music Business by Moses AvalonSome of the Topics Covered Are:

– We’re All Jammin’, So Who is the Songwriter?

– When do I need a manager?

– What is a Good First Publishing Deal?

– How do I budget for a tour like the labels?

– Do I Need A Business Plan?

– Should I Stay Indie or Go For a Major?

– Why Doesn’t the Government Do Something About Piracy?

– With CD Sales Dropping, How are Major Labels Staying In Business?

– Will I Make more Money if I sign up with ASCAP or BMI?

– How Can I avoid the Scam Companies that Claim to Help Indie Artists?

– How do I Get My Masters Back from the Label?

– How You Can Collect Your Foreign Publishing Moneys? (You Mean My PRO Isn’t Collecting Them!?)

No other book ever written for the music space has done that.  Most books cater to a specific job; engineer, songwriter, producer, etc.  This book’s heuristic approach allows it to be for everyone at all stages of success. It gives the direct, no-BS correct answer to conquer every challenge which you will encounter as you climb the ladder towards a successful career.

The 50 questions I tackle were authored by 1000s of readers who have written to me over the decade-long campaign that the Moses Avalon Company has been fighting for artist’s rights.  This is the essential, boiled down, need-to-know answers that other books avoid either because they simply do not know the answers, or they are too afraid of offending someone to print it.

This book is made to answer the real questions you have right now… and the sooner you start to use it the sooner you will see greater levels of success in your music career.

You can get it from your favorite online retailers including Amazon.com and HalLeonardbooks.com. If you visit me over on the Moses Avalon Facebook Page and click “Like” you will get a code to receive 20% off the purchase price through Hal Leonard.

Enjoy!

  1. I’m no Moses fan boy. The first I learned of Moses was today. That being said, I’ve read a lot of Music Biz books and yours stood out as offering something different. Straight answer to questions about the music biz– answers that we normally couldn’t find in a textbook. Right on! 🙂

  2. Look, with all the fake crap going on this business, Moses has stood tall for years, speaking the truth about this business and industry. This is the devils playground for the stupid and only the knowledgable and strong survive.
